After deciding to shift the Champions Trophy from Pakistan, Sri Lanka appears to be emerging as the preferred venue for the tournament, according to sources.
The International Cricket Council has decided to shift the prestigious tournament from Pakistan as the safety and security situation in the troubled nation is considered too risky.
The 2008 Champions Trophy was postponed by a year due to the problems in Pakistan and this year's tournament is scheduled to run from September 25 to October 5, this year. The Pakistan Cricket Board though will receive the revenue from the event. Sri Lanka has hosted the Champions Trophy once before, in 2002.
