AUSTRALIA VS SOUTH AFRICA 1st T20 2009:DAVID WARNER TURNS THE COIN FOR AUSSIE

David Warner announced himself on the international stage in style with a 43-ball 89 that included six sixes and seven boundaries to set up Australia's 52-run win over South Africa in the first Twenty20 at Melbourne here on Sunday at the MCG.Chasing 183, South Africa were bundled out for 130 in 18 overs with only JP Duminy standing tall in the chase. The Proteas got off to a disastrous start that saw two contrasting comebacks. Opener Herschelle Gibbs's embarrassing run continued as he was trapped leg before for no score by Nathan Bracken. However, Aussie pacer Shaun Tait returned to the international stage by rocking the South African top order.Jacques Kallis gloved Tait's first ball of the game; a bouncer that surprised Kallis but he was lucky to survive. AB de Villiers had no such luck as another Tait bouncer struck him in the abdomen and he lost balance that made his bat dislodge the bail. Kallis was then cleaned up by Ben Hilfenhaus. The visitors were stuttering at 12-3.Duminy stood tall but he kept losing his partners and after scoring a determined 78 off 48 balls, he too perished. South Africa crumbled under pressure, losing their last five wickets for just 10 runs. Earlier, Warner made the best of his first appearance for Australia after skipper Ricky Ponting chose to bat. The 22-year old who took the Aussies to 140 in the 14th over was the fourth wicket to fall in the innings. Australia, however, dug a hole for themselves in the later part of the innings as disciplined bowling in the death by the Proteas, led by Makhaya Ntini saw the visitors curtail the Aussie score.
