NEWZELAND VS WESTINDIES 1st TEST 2008:-Oram Douthful For The 1st Test

New Zealand all-rounder Jacob Oram put himself on the injured list once again as he reported of a calf strain before the team’s practice session on Tuesday.

The Kiwi has struggled with injuries since quite sometime now. After missing the Adelaide Test against Australia due to a back niggle, Oram also suffered from a hairline fracture in his finger.

Now the calf injury has also put doubts over his participation in the first Test against West Indies which is scheduled to start tomorrow at Dunedin. The uncertainty over Oram’s availability has earned Auckland’s Kyle Mills a call as the back-up.

Though the seriousness of Oram’s injury is not officially known, New Zealand team manager Lindsay Crocker was hopeful the all-rounder is most likely to take the field for the first Test as he fully took part in the team’s final practice session.

"The physio did some work on him and there's no tear or anything of any worrying nature there but Jake knows his body pretty well and he was a little bit nervous," Crocker was quoted as saying.

The Black Caps would really be hoping to see Oram feature in the playing eleven as he is a key member of the side, both with the ball and the bat.
