BANGLADESH VS ZIMBABWE ODI:TAILENDERS HELPED ZIMBABWE


Zimbabwe's tailenders R W Price (24 not out) and T Mupariwa (10 not out)helped their team clinch the first One-Day International against Bangladesh by two wickets with four balls to spare here on Monday. Chasing a modest 125 to win, the tourists top order made heavy weather of the chase losing eight wickets for 92 runs on board before the two match-winners added 35 runs for the unbroken ninth wicket.For Zimbabwe, Hamilton Masakadza was the first man to go in the third over. Tatenda Taibu and Matsikinyeri were dismissed in quick succession three overs later. and Hasan struck once again to make going worse for Zimbabwe who were reduced to 37 for five in the 15th over. Mortaza has claimed three wickets so far as Hasan has scalped two.Earlier, batting first, Bangladesh, was bowled out for a paltry 124 off 48.1 overs. The Zimbabwe bowlers, who bowled a steady line and length had sent back both the openers Tamim Iqbal (13) and Junaid Siddique (3), skipper Mohammad Ashraful (4), Raqibul Hasan (28) and Shakib Al Hasan (15) with the score reading 69.The lower order batsmen Mushfiqur Rahim (22), Mahmudullah (14), Naeem islam (15), Mashrafe Mortaza (5), Nazmul Hossain (0) and Rubel Hossain (0 not out) also could not do much to retrieve the situation before the innings folded at 124 runs with 11 balls to spare.R W Price was the most successful bowler for Zimbabwe taking four for 22 while K M Dabengwa got three for 15.E C Rainsford, E Chigumbura and H Masakadza got a wicket each.
