PAKISTAN VS SRILANKA 2nd ODI:Malik departs after resolute stand with Butt

Fighting half-centuries by Tillekaratne Dilshan (71) and Thilina Kandamby (59) guided Sri Lanka to 290-8 against Pakistan in the second ODI here on Wednesday. After the visitors were put in to bat by Shoaib Malik, a brisk start was followed by an early wicket with Sanath Jayasuriya falling hit wicket in the seventh over for 19. Lanka's mainstay Kumar Sangakkara was sent back for 16 in the 12th over and the tourists were in a spot of bother at 66-2. The innings was revived by Dilshan and Kandamby with a 99-run stand. The partnership was taking dangerous proportions when Shoaib Akhtar snared Dilshan after the stand-in opener smashed 11 boundaries in his 88-ball knock. The Lankan innings in the death overs was powered by Chamara Kapugedera's 39-ball 44 that included two fours and two sixes. Pakistan, who won the first ODI on Monday by eight wickets, fielded an unchanged side. The visitors, however, have made one change bringing in Kandamby in place of Jehan Mubarak.
